The Story of the Two Frogs

Two frogs are dancing on top of a milk churn when they fall in. One frog panics and thrashes about saying 'we'll never get out, we'll never get out, we're going to die' until he drowns. The other frog thinks 'I must keep calm and find a solution'. So he slowly swims round and round, round and round, thinking for hours, until he finds that the milk has turned into a pat of butter and he can jump right out.

In times of crisis, think like the second frog.

A word about clogs

For some reason (I think thanks to Chanel), these ugly clunky things are apparantly the biggest shoe trend at the moment. I'm still not convinced.

My Reading List

I am a person who, once I have started a book, will force myself to finish it no matter how bad it is or how little I am enjoying it. The result is the curse of the bad book: I start a book, don't like it, but continue to half heartedly plough through it for months. Add to this my unreliable method of choosing books based on their interesting covers! So, following a string of bad reading experiences, I have decided to take a different approach.

I've compiled a list of famous and critically acclaimed literature which I've never read. I'm guessing that all the hype can't be completely unfounded - providing me with some guaranteed good reads.

Here's the list (in no particular order):

I'm quite boring when it comes to my make-up routine in the mornings, and actually when going out too. I usually leave the experimenting to nights in watching the late late ironically enough. I wanted to do a post about my favourite products, but I can't decide on a lot of them yet (any suggestions?) so I decided to tell you about my everyday ones first...

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide non-profit housing organisation that works in partnership with people in need of decent housing to build and renovate simple, affordable homes. Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to achieving the vision of a world without poverty housing and homelessness, and to make decent housing a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity is building houses in Ireland and nearly 100 other countries around the world. Since 1976 over 200,000 homes have been built, sheltering more then one million people.

Mick Flannery

Something about Mick Flannery awakens my inner 12 year old girl at a Westlife concert. Denise and I went along to his gig at the Rock the Docks festival in Galway over the June bank holiday weekend and I had to fight the urge to jump up and down screaming for the whole thing. Although we did scream a little between songs, we managed to keep quiet long enough to appreciate all my favourite tunes and some fantastic covers as well. Love you Mick x

Cute as a button

Our lovely waitress at a very cool bar/ restaurant called One. Judging by the rest of the staff, there was no real uniform as such, except an apparant requirement that you wear black and white- so this adorable ensemble was all her own doing. How cute is the undone bow tie? I will definitely be copying this.

When we told her how much we loved her outfit, she was really happy and said that she was worried the shorts made her look a little like a pirate (except she pronounced it pee-rate)!

Let's Start a Fire Tonight

I said to Fiona recently 'I think I just discovered a band'. Okay so I reckon these guys would be doing okay without me but they are still relatively unheard of (this song is not even on youtube yet- hence why I don't have a video), so I think I should get some credit for introducing them to my networks. I heard 'Let's start a fire tonight' on the radio on some alternative late night thing recently and ever since, the song has been stuck in my head... but in a good way. You should have a listen on their website here (think its the third track). If anyone is heading to the festival in Bundoran next weekend (I envy you), they are playing Friday night.

Dreaming of Paris...

On a whim, Fiona and I moved our planned September Paris trip to August. August is nearer than September, therefore better. Only 55 more days to go and we'll be reunited like old lovers...
