Happy (belated) New Year’s everyone. Let’s ease on in to 2012!
I had kind of decided not to bother with new year’s resolutions this year. Instead, I thought I could continue making steady progress on my Day Zero List (I’m 25% complete- not bad!). Then, during a long wait in Istanbul airport for our transfer a couple of days ago, Lucy revealed her list of resolutions; all neatly itemised in a pretty diary and awakened in me promises of a new and productive year. Maybe it speaks to me of a pathological optimism I need to address, but I couldn’t resist writing my own. I must confess that a couple are taken directly from Lucy’s list. That girl has it all figured out.
1. Become a better teacher.
2. Learn some Arabic.
3. Start wearing red lipstick during the day.
4. Vow not to use a word until I am entirely sure of its meaning.
5. Write more. Letters. Emails. Blog posts. Whatever.
6. Get out of bed 30 minutes earlier every morning.
7. Smile more.
8. Stop unnecessary gossiping (yes, some of it is necessary).
9. Curb my weird supermarket impulse buying.
10. Eat more vegetables.
11. Buy a bicycle. With a basket.

Love the list!! ...and please do let me know what it feels like to wear red lipstick during the day! I don't have the guts and it's unlikely I will manage this year!! Also, if you learn to separate the necessary from unnecessary gossip, please do tell ;))

Love #6 and I think I may just apply this to my daily routine. I tend to sleep in way too long and then my day is sort of ruined! :(
#3 and #6 are brilliant!!!
