This illustration by The Oatmeal addresses one of my ultimate pet peeves (as you might have already read about).  I applaud any attempt at correcting this worldwide issue.

If you like this, you should also check out 7 things you really don’t need to take a photo of, What it means when you say literally and Minor Differences (that aren’t really that minor).

  1. Love this post! So true though. I catch myself writing "alot" sometimes, not because I don't know its correct spelling (I'm a grammar nerd) but because I type so fast and am too lazy to go back and change it. But to 99.9% I go back because it just irks me. A lot. And yeah, people spell "grammer" sometimes too. It just looks weird! ;)
See?, trying to get all those words in but I can't.

    Have a fabulous day!

Thanks for sharing and have a lovely Friday!

  4. That illustration of the panda vomiting is so funny! :)

The way I always remembered how to spell weird is to remember the rule that it's "i" before "e" except for weird and caffeine. :)

  10. Excellent post! It also winds me up when people say pacifically instead of specifically. But then again, I'm just cranky - and thanks to the predictive text thingy on the iPhone, I'm typo-ing it up all around town these days myself...

  11. Seriously! It drives me nuts, especially loose and lose... I mean, come on, even phonetically that doesn't work. It also drives me nuts when people write things like "I wish I would have known." Erm NO, it's "I wish I had known." Sheesh.

Hehe, I think I might have even more of a pet peeve about this than you!

  12. Lol! Really loved this post! My guy gets so irate with me when I get 'loose' and 'lose' wrong (which is often and 90% of the time I do it on purpose just to irritate him)!!

  13. I always get hung up on "weird", but now I never will again!

The loose, lose thing drives me nuts.

  15. Fab idea to have it written like this. The English language is not easy, eh? Another pet peeve of mine is people using 'of' for 'have' as in "She should of gone there". Anyone come across this?

  16. I love this! It was sent around our office a while back (we write reports). Such a good way to remind you to double-check the simple words :)
