Thing #25: Drink Two Litres of Water Every Day for a Month

bottled-water

This is one of those things that I’m not really sure why I put on the list.

Maybe I was tired of listening to celebrities attribute all their shiny hair and perfect skin to the miraculous benefits of drinking more water (not plastic surgery).  Maybe I wanted to reap the rewards of this untapped* natural resource myself.

Maybe it was just a filler.  It can be difficult to think of 101 things you want to (and will actually) do.

Anyway, following three separate attempts (spanning several months) and approximately 1,714** bottles of water later, I did it. And the results are in.  If you drink two litres of water every day for a month:

  • You will not feel thirsty.
  • You will pee like Seabiscuit.
  • You will not enjoy this thing.  You will wish you hadn’t put it on the list.
  • You may or may not see an improvement in the condition of your hair and skin (results were inconclusive).
  • You will continue to drink more water after you finish the thing.  You will have to remind yourself to stop counting the bottles you consume.
  • You will donate €5 to The Water Project, a charity who provide water to people who will never complain about too much water.

*excuse the (intentional) pun

  1. It's good to hear you completed the challenge. Water can be a bit boring at times so I'd fail at this challenge so bad!

  12. This is a great thing to do. For the last month I've been trying to drink a lot more water and I have noticed a lot more improvement in my skin and in my digestion. Also, less headaches and backaches!

  13. I do keep hearing about the miraculous benefits of drinking lots of water. Several times in my life I have upped my intake and my #1 take aways is the large number of times it means I need to use the bathroom. I've also heard it will make you lose weight. That's what I'm banking on right now!

  14. I am so lame when it comes to drinking tons of water. I tend to forget about the task I've taken on and instead substitute water for ample amounts of coffee.

  15. I've heard the water for skin thing is a myth, but I know if I drink nothing but sodas or caffeine my skim looks icky, so maybe there's something to it?

  16. OH my gosh I laughed so hard at the Seabiscuit line. Hilarious!

I am the worst at drinking water. And I get headaches if I don't.

  19. I've been doing this for a couple of months. I love it because I don't get tired easily, I feel fresh, I notice my face and my hair are healthier BUT, going pee every hour or 2 hours is crazy! You'll get use to it. You just have to know when not to drink that much water like if you have to drive an hour or if you're going to be in the meeting. I love this post!

  23. This is a great thing to do but I really hate drinking water so this would be almost impossible for me. I just try to drink more tea or juice.

  24. Thanks for all the encouragement- slowly but surely making my way through that list.

Jozen, the lemon and ice definitely helps... and Hannah, yes definitely less headaches, so that was a benefit I left out!

  25. don't I KNOW that you pee like a seabiscuit. I have been successfully drinking my 2 litres of water a day for awhile now and the running joke at work if I stand up to anything is 'shes off to the toilet again' haha. I THINK maybe my skin is better, but I suppose it's doing some good even if I can't see the results. I could so relate to this post though :)
